Bible Study

KJV Axis: A Study Bible for Teens. Finally, a stylish King James Version of the Bible just for teens! The King James Bible is known for its poetic beauty and structure. While its language may sound archaic today, a familiarity with this version of the Bible prepares modern students for reading Shakespeare. (The King James Bible was published in the same year that William Shakespeare began work on The Tempest.) The Axis Bible includes interesting introductions to each book, plus timelines and maps to connect Bible events with the history and geography learned in school. The Axis encourages teens to read and study the Bible for themselves, showing them through unique features and engaging design that God’s Word is timeless and relevant to their culture today.

The Evidence Bible, by Ray Comfort is a slightly modified version of the Authorized King James Bible that reduces archaic word usage, while remaining true to the original without any paraphrasing or deletion of text. But the best thing about this Bible is that it’s filled with many extras including commentary from Ray Comfort (who co-hosts the award-winning television show “The Way of the Master” with Kirk Cameron). Ray Comfort wisely uses insights from great scholars throughout the centuries to confirm the truth of God’s Word. Read fascinating quotes from presidents, scientists, and other famous people. Study how to share your faith with relatives, friends, and strangers. Learn from Scripture how to prove God’s existence, and discover how to prove the authenticity of the Bible through prophecy. See how the Bible is full of eye-opening scientific and medical facts. Find out how to refute so-called “contradictions” in the Bible. Find answers to common questions and objections. Learn how to speak with an atheist, a Mormon, a Jehovah’s Witness, a Buddhist, a Hindu and a Moslem. This is not a comprehensive theological study Bible, but rather a learning resource and a tool for evangelism. Highly recommended for students heading off to college.

Mathematics
(Four years required for college admission.)

Saxon Calculus OR Saxon Physics

Saxon is the only major math program on the market that systematically distributes instruction, practice, and assessment throughout the entire text as opposed to concentrating, or massing, related concepts into a short period of time--usually within a unit or chapter. Saxon’s unique approach ensures that students not only gain but also retain essential math skills.

Science
(Three years of laboratory science required for college.)

  • Exploring Creation with Physics, by Dr. Jay L. Wile OR
  • Signs & Seasons: Understanding the Elements of Classical Astronomy, by Jay Ryan. Jay Ryan has done for astronomy what Jay Wile (Apologia Educational Ministries) did with the other sciences, by writing a Creation-based user-friendly curriculum designed with home learners in mind. Signs & Seasons provides a serious study of astronomy, and yet it is enjoyable to read and doesn’t seem like a textbook at all. Homeschool students can utilize the field activities to obtain high school credit.
