General Information

What is the Knowledge House Library?

The Knowledge House Library is a collection of educational resources housed at the Black Canyon City Community Library for use by local homeschoolers.

What kinds of resources are available?

Books, magazines, newspapers, curriculum, references, study guides, Christian literature, biographies, computer software, videos, audiotapes, games, and other materials.

What if I don't see what I'm looking for?

A search for a particular item can be made if you don't see what you are looking for. It may be possible that the item is checked out or has not yet been added to the database. To put in a request, please e-mail .

Non-Circulating Items:

Magazines, newspapers, and certain other items may not be taken out of the building. It could be that their physical format is susceptible to damage; they may be highly valuable or impossible to replace in case of loss; or they are used frequently as reference sources. In general, these are titles that are not designed to be read from cover to cover but are made available for browsing.

Library Hours:

The same as regular Black Canyon City Community library hours:
Mon - Fri 9am - 12pm & 2pm - 5pm | Tue, Wed, Thurs 7pm - 9pm | Sat 9am - 12am

Library Policy

To borrow materials from the library:

You need to be a homeschooler, currently registered with Knowledge House Learning Resource Center, read and accept our library policy, and sign your membership card acknowledging that you agree to abide by the following rules:

  • All borrowers shall return items in the same condition in which they were received, with the exception of normal wear and tear. Borrowers are expected to pay the current replacement cost for any lost or irreparably damaged items. This includes water damage, markings made with a pen, pictures or pages cut out, broken or scratched CDs, accompanying material missing, etc. If an item is out of print or no longer available, the librarian may choose to substitute a similar item when figuring the replacement cost, or else require reimbursement of the original list price.

  • Some books contain write-in worksheets/activities to fill out. Please tell children not to write in the books! You will have to use a copier to reproduce these for your own use.

  • Borrowers will be charged $1.00 for each damaged page (torn or with erasable pencil marks), missing activity card, lost manipulative or game piece, etc., assuming the material as a whole is still usable. If a broken video or audio tape can be repaired, the borrower will be asked to pay the repair charge. No more books may be checked out until the borrower pays all charges that are owed.

  • Loan periods vary according to the type of item. Most materials don't have due dates, so curriculum may be checked out for a whole semester or even up to a year. Regardless of assigned due dates, please return materials as soon as you are finished with them. No fines are charged for overdue books, but a non-curriculum item that remains out for an unusually long period of time may be recalled.

  • You are responsible for all materials checked out in your name. Please do not re-loan an item to anyone else. This is to make sure that we know who has the materials at all times. Many of our materials belong to individuals who have generously offered to place their items on loan for other families to use. Please take good care of their property and return items promptly so that others may also enjoy them.

I have read and understand the Knowledge House Learning Resource Center's library policy statement above. I agree to return all materials on time, in good condition, as per the library rules. If an item that I borrowed is badly damaged or not returned, I will pay the cost of replacing it with an identical or similar item; if such an item is not available, I will reimburse the amount of the original list price.
