Donation Policy

Throughout history, the Library has always been the foundation of learning, and Knowledge House Learning Resource Center is a vital, integral part of the local homeschool community. The best legacy we can leave our children is a love of learning and the skills they will need to acquire knowledge throughout their lives. Your donation is an investment in life-long learning!

Knowledge House Learning Resource Center is pleased to accept gifts of homeschool-related books, magazines, audiocassettes, videos, software, educational toys and games, and other instructional or reference materials. Such donations provide valuable additions to our collection and they are greatly appreciated.

We will add to our collection those items that support the mission of Knowledge House Learning Resource Center. We reserve the right to decline materials that contain inappropriate content or are unsuitable for our collection. Due to space limitations, we may also have to decline materials which are out of our normal scope, which duplicate existing holdings, which are so outdated or damaged as to be unusable, or which for any other reason will not fit in with our collection.

Materials the library needs:

  • Homeschool books and magazines
  • Curriculum and unit study materials
  • Textbooks and workbooks
  • Literature study guides
  • Supplemental materials and manipulatives
  • Instructional audio cassettes and video tapes
  • Christian materials
  • Educational software
  • Educational toys and games

Materials which are less suitable:

  • Used workbooks
  • Mass market paperbacks
  • Children's picture books
  • Popular fiction books
  • General newspapers and magazines
  • Damaged or extremely outdated materials
  • Books commonly found at any public library
  • Non-educational software, videos, and games
  • Broken toys or games with missing pieces

Books and other library materials that are given to us become the property of Knowledge House Learning Resource Center. All materials accepted will be reviewed and may be added to our collection, sold at book sales with the proceeds being used to buy new books, or disposed of at the discretion of the librarian.

Alternatively, if you would prefer to maintain ownership of your items but wouldn't mind making them available for other homeschoolers to borrow (perhaps you'd like to clear off a shelf at home!), simply label the materials with your name (an address sticker is fine) and we will make a note in the library database of who owns the items. You may leave your materials on loan for as long as you wish, but you can take them back at any time (please contact the librarian first).

You may pre-arrange a time to drop off your donations. We may also be able to pick up donations at your location. On request, the church will provide a written receipt for tax purposes.

Become a sponsor! Your sponsorship will help provide us with resource center supplies, library materials, printing and postage. Sponsor's name, company logo, and link will appear on our web site. We are also glad to have monetary donations to buy new books. Or volunteer! A donation of your time is a simple but valuable gift. Contact for details.
